Fairy Circles

Image
We've had a lot of rain over the last week. Yesterday it finally was clear and I walked around the yard to check stuff out. I came across the above sprouts. What was strange about it was not just that it is sort of a circle, but there was a mound of dirt in the middle that the plants were growing around. This one was right on a clear path with no other plants growing on it and I have no idea where the mound of dirt came from. Also, the plants look nothing like anything else sprouting on our property. There are plenty of weeds sprouting right now, but I am familiar with all our normal weeds and those don't look like any of them. Walking on about 12 feet I came across another one!  Again, I know it is hard to tell from the photos, but a mound of dirt in the center with the plants growing around it. Then about 20 feet away I came across a third one. Another mound and these ones are actually growing on stone steps, although, there is dirt that has blown onto them, but not sure h...

My latest unexplained experience

Last night around 11:00 I went into the kitchen to get my tea that had been seeping. Mind you, I had been in the kitchen just a few moments before pouring the hot water and adding the tea and noticed nothing unusual. When I entered there was the most overwhelming strong smell! It was not necessarily a bad smell, it was like a very sweet smelling perfume, but like a gallon of whatever it was had spilled! The only thing I could come up with was that my fruit on the counter was rotting, but it was fine. I then checked my tea to make sure that wasn't it. No. I stuck my nose in every cabinet, the fridge and the trash and the smell did not seem to be coming from any of those places! I went back to the living room pondering what on earth it could be. A minute later Brit went into the kitchen comes back into the living room and asks me why the kitchen smells like perfume. I tell him I have no idea and will have to figure it out tomorrow. I am sitting sipping my tea and I start to smell a ...

Ghost Lights and Flying Saucers

Image
In Albuquerque at the end of a road named Menaul is an area that is said to be haunted.  During the day it doesn't seem at all haunted, there are several hiking trails and in good weather it is pretty busy with hikers and nature lovers.  This is the story I know about the haunting:  There was a serial killer who lived in a cave in that area. He would kidnap people and take them there where he would then kill them, roast and eat them.  So far nobody has found a proper cave, though there are large stones that could form a shelter from the elements. Also, I have checked the local archives and found no mention of any serial killer, so it would seem this is an urban legend used as it was with me to scare children not to go anywhere with a stranger.  Well, or this story could have sprung up due to people reporting seeing ghostly lights in the area at night. Most report the lights as looking like someone running around with a lantern. However, one of my friends h...
